A quoi tu penses? by DMaula A quoi tu penses? by DMaula
****
I drew this pencil sketch without thinking, just as a way to relax.
(Sorry for proportion mistakes.)
My scanner sucks. It darkened the lower half...
I created a blue layer with SAI to enhance the work a little.

This is really lovely! I hardly see anyone draw things from the 18th century!:hearty: very nice! :)

It's one of my favorite historial periods: fashion, music, decoration, culture in general.

The proportion mistakes aren't noticeable, and the darkness at the bottom of the picture looks intentional, which was what I thought at first. Anyway, great sketch. I love the frothy lace, and how it echoes the embroidery on her bodice, which then ties in with the flowers in her hair. It looks very well thought out, and composed. However, the best part is the fact that you can tell this lady is thinking as she stares off the side of page. Some problem has caught her attention. I always love seeing something other that flat-expressioned zombies in pictures.

Thank you very much for your deep (and maybe too benevolent) critique; it encourages me a lot. This sketch was drew fast, without thinking, so I'm glad you find all that in it. I'm having a little crisis right now; I don't like anything I draw and feel that proportions and traits are'nt right. So, your kind words are very appreciated. ^_^

Certainly not too benevolent. The proportions look just fine. I even measured the hand against the face on my computer screen (hands are my worst nightmare) just to try to figure out where you were coming from, and everything was acsolutely fine. I love how you modified the back of the gown to show a little of what it was like under those cape things. It's a great period piece, and I hope that you get out of the slump, soon.

Also, the faint lightening around the lady is beautiful. It really makes her stand out against the background.

Wow, me encantó .
